Executive mayor urges taxi drivers to observe health protocols

The executive mayor of Mopani District Municipality, Pule Shayi has urged members of the public to remain vigilant in the midst of Covid-19 third wave.

He led the District Command Council on Friday morning, July 9 in a campaign to sanitise long-distance minibus taxis operating from the Tzaneng Mall taxi rank.

He also distributed masks and sanitisers to taxi operators. Shayi was joined by the leadership of SANTACO, he appealed to taxi operators to continue observing the health protocols.

“We are here today as the District Command Council to support one of our key stakeholders, the taxi industry as we continue the fight against the covid-19 pandemic. We know that our support to the industry is also directed to all our people who are reliant on this sector for transportation,” he said.

He has also appealed to taxi operators above the age of 50 years to register for vaccination.
