Sean makes carpentry look easy

Young carpenter, Sean Rose of KS Woodworx encourages aspiring business people to overcome fear of the unknown when starting a business.

“Just start, don’t worry about where the capital will come from.

“Do your best and as it grows people will start feeling comfortable to assist you financially as they will be able to see what you are working towards.

“It is hard for people to invest in something they have not yet seen,” he explained.

The 31-year-old multi-talented young man from Nkowankowa has made a name for himself as one of the best carpenters in the Tzaneen area.

Hardly two years after he has started his business he has already worked with big companies and some of his work can be found countrywide.

He told the Herald that he has always been fascinated by wood.

It only started as a hobby until he committed himself to learning his craft by practicing and watching YouTube videos on carpentry.

“After I was sure of what I was doing, I started posting my work on social media and people seemed to like my work.

“The demand was so high that I had to get a workshop and hire people to assist me with the orders.

“We are currently looking for a bigger space as our orders continue to grow,” he explained.

King Sean as he is affectionately known on the streets, has also started another company, SGM Aluminium Worx, which manufactures aluminium windows, door frames and garage doors.

He added that in the next five years he hopes to own a carpentry school to teach other people the skills of wood working.

“I want people to have more practical skills.

Many go to study at a technical college, but after attaining their qualification they still can’t do the work because of a lack of experience.

“I believe there is enough business for everyone, hence I’m not afraid of teaching other people.”

His woodwork company specialises in manufacturing modern TV stands, cupboards and kitchen units.

He concluded by stating that despite the backlog caused by the lockdown, everything have returned to normal.
