Shamu is Limpopo’s top swimming club

Three of the six Limpopo swimmers who qualified to swim at the SA Senior National Championship hails from Tzaneen’s Shamu Swimming Club.

They are Ruan Hanaczeck Kruger, Daniel Smit and Jason Loucao. Jason has just turned 15 in February and deserves a special mention, says Sheila Grobbelaar of the club.

The other three swimmers are from Polokwane.

These three swimmers will represent Limpopo Aquatics at the most prestigious gala hosted by Swim South Africa, the SA National Championship next month.

Ruan, who is included in the national squad, has just completed school and is seeking to make “waves” at the highest level.

He is currently the swimmer with the fastest times recorded in Limpopo. Daniel is a grade 12 learner and turns 18 in a few days.

Another one of Shamu’s stars is Marnus Kruger who also qualified for Junior National Championship. Jason will also go to the Junior National Championship.

Jason and Daniel qualified for 200m backstroke and Ruan qualified for six events.
