Set days to collect your Covid-19 R350 grant

“One queue at the post office is reserved for beneficiaries of the R350 grant while the other queue is for all other transactions.”

The post office has introduced a system to reduce waiting time for beneficiaries to collect their R350 social relief of distress grant.

The system has been implemented in Gauteng, the Free State, North West province, Mpumalanga and Limpopo, Pretoria Rekord reported.

However, the post office has not implemented the system in the Northern Cape, Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal due to the fact that there were not many beneficiaries, “so they do not need the system,” said the post office spokesperson, Johan Kruger.

Kruger said the system had already proven to be successful in the Eastern Cape and Gauteng.

“The system will also make it easier for beneficiaries to comply with social distancing requirements.”

He said each day of the week was reserved for different beneficiaries depending on the last three digits of their ID numbers.

The days and last three letters of your ID are as follows:

– Monday – 083 & 088
– Tuesday – 084 & 089
– Wednesday – 080 & 089
– Thursday – 081 & 086
– Fridays – 082 & 087

“The first week of the month is reserved for paying grants to the elderly, disabled and for child grants.”

Kruger said the post office had introduced separate queues at its branches, to reduce waiting time and to ensure social distancing.

“One queue is reserved for beneficiaries of the R350 grant while the other queue is for all other transactions.

“There will be queue walkers who will check ID numbers to ensure the system is implemented.”

He encouraged clients to call Sassa on 0800-60-10-11 from 08:00 to 16:00, Monday to Friday for queries.

Alternatively, they can visit the Sassa website on www.sassa.gov.za.
