Ramahala stated that she wanted to make going to school an exciting thing for learners in the community.

A young lady and founder of a charity recently held a “Back to School” campaign for Grade R learners in GaKgapane.

Lebogang Mashile Ramahala from Meloding Section in Ga-Kgapane held the campaign at the Sefahone Primary School.

“I established the foundation in 2015 and I have been running campaigns donating sanitary towels to local schools,” she explained.

She also stated that the campaign she held on Wednesday, January 15 was her first ‘Back to School’ initiative.

They managed to donate 56 school shirts, 10 pairs of school shoes, six school bags, six lunch boxes, six pencil cases which had the necessary stationery needed inside, six flip files, rulers, erasers, sharpeners and other school necessities for the learners.

Some of the things that were handed to the learners on their first day of school.

“Remembering how my first day at school was, I wanted the Grade R learners to have something to look forward to on their first day of school. Targeting them meant giving them a reason to be motivated about being at school and I know it will help them in the long run. It was more of a motivational campaign from me to them. To make it interesting for them we had cake and jumping castle for them to enjoy,” she stated.

Some of the older learners in Grade 4 and Grade 5 were also given water bottles and lunch boxes on the day.

Ramahala further told Herald that she managed to have a successful campaign with the help of Modjadji Plaza manager, Stephanie Landman Claassen and her daughter Nicole; Greater Letaba Municipality representative, Reuben Mosila; Old Mutual representatives, Michael Malapane and Salome Malaka and her project coordinator, Rachel Morwatsehla.

When asked if she will be having more campaigns anytime soon, Ramahala said she will be attending to campaigns and donation drives during her spare time.

“I will be studying towards a degree in Accounting this year and because it is a demanding course, I will need to work on my foundation during my school holidays.”
