Ronnel crowned Miss Sundowns Limpopo

Local model, Ronnel Homu outshined over 60 ladies to be crowned Miss Limpopo Sundowns 2019 in Polokwane at the Park Inn by Radisson Hotel recently.

Homu (20) born and bred in Nkowankowa Township and a former Merensky Highschool learner believes that pageants are still relevant in today’s society.

“Pageants are an empowerment for women, it broadens their horizons.

“It is a confidence booster for ladies and it is also another way of encouraging other people that dreams do come true,” she told Letaba Herald.

Lesego Mathema and Ronnel Homu, both are Miss Sundowns Limpopo 2019.

She says that the soccer club has always been a part of her family as it was her fathers’ favourite club before he passed in 2016.

“I entered the pageant because of the values and virtues that the Mamelodi Sundowns brand holds coincides with what I stand for which is Ubunto-Botho, working together to empower one another, to create a better South Africa for our future generations and providing opportunities to the disadvantaged youth to improve our economy,” she added.

Mahlatse Makwela, one of the winners of Miss Sundowns Limpopo 2018, who also comes from Nkowankowa, said that she is happy for her fellow home girl.

“I wish that you have a great journey and you network with the people that will open those dreams for you.

“All the best in your reign, may you unleash your true potential because I know you have it in you,” Makwela said.

Homu is currently studying Politics, Anthropology and Economics at the University of Witwatersrand.

She shares the honours of the title with Lesego Matheba (20) as the competition crowns two winners per province.

Each of the pageant queens walked away with a R60 000 prize money.

The duo will represent the province next year at the national competition whereby the winner will walk away with R310 000, a brand new car and the pleasure of being called Miss Mamelodi Sundowns 2020.
