These youngsters have set out to tackle social ills through motivational talks, dance, poetry, sharing of information and empowering one another.

Their first motivational talk took place in December 2017 and their second one took place a year later.

“The idea of the motivational talk was founded by the current members with the hope of empowering those doing a lot but feeling inadequate, affirming everyone’s existence, restoring hope and instilling confidence in the youth from the rural-GaModjadji,” stated Karabo Sekgale.

Speaking on the aim that they started the movement to help build one another as youth, Sekgale had the following to say, “As the moral decay of the youth in our communities is a growing concern with some of the youth narrowly escaping a culture of crime and violence, BYLS aim to foster youth participation in youth development. In so doing BYLS will encompass motivational talks (TED talks) and art activities (dance, poetry and music). BYLS is by young people for young people with the hope of a better future and rural development.”

“The motivational talk changed my life in a more positive way. I had no clear direction regarding my life and my future as I was suffering peer pressure and anxiety issues. I am very much thankful for the advice and words of encouragement received from the Bolobedu Youth Leadership Summit team,” stated Obakeng Magoro.

The next summit to be held will be on Monday, December 23 and the venue will be disclosed once more information is made available to Letaba Herald.
