Mokoena receives a new house
The MEC for Cooperative Governance, Human Settlement and Traditional Affairs Basikopo Makamu officially handed over a house to a 65-year old pensioner at Rhulani Village in Julesburg outside Tzaneen recently.
Moses Mokoena, a double amputee who is wheelchair bound, received a newly built modern four roomed house with furniture.
Mokoena used to stay in a one-room shack alone and will now have the pleasure of staying in his own house.
Makamu was accompanied by the Mopani District Municipality Executive Mayor, Pule Shayi; Member of Mayoral Committe, Minkateko Shimange Fazi; MMC City Modjadji and other Councillors.
The MEC stated that the government take the issue of housing seriously and they will continue building more houses for those that are still without houses.
He also indicated that there about 130 000 people in the province without houses, however he says that people must bare in mind that there is still a waiting list.

“I’m very happy that I now have a decent house and can enjoy the pleasures of owning a house,” Mokoena told Letaba Herald.
The house was built by C. Hoxani Construction who also donated the furniture.
“We saw it fit as a company to assist Mokoena, as it is our duty as a business to help where there is deep need,” said Chaina Mashele, Owner of C. Hoxani Construction.
Mashele also acknowledged the good partnership he had with HGM Steelboys who also assisted with building materials.
Tzaneen Mall also donated a brand new wheel chair to the new home owner and some families also received R1 500 worth of groceries from SASSA on the day.
The day was concluded with a filling lunch which the community together with the guests enjoyed.
