The games were 15 minutes each without any breaks in between and they take place twice a year, being in June and during the December holidays as a way to celebrate young local talent.

Event organisers, Vuyo Mayindi and Sabariaus Sedibe from Flora Park Tzaneen said they were happy with the response from local teams and the community at large.

“The tournament was awesome from our point of view, we managed to get the youth together in one place in the name of football. It is one of our priorities to make sure we give back to the society in a positive way. We are now looking forward to more success and more support in the upcoming one that will take place during December holidays,” explained Mayindi.

The winning team, First Eleven, walked away with a R6000 prize money.

“We are very happy that we did so well on the day. It wasn’t easy after having played a number of games but in the end we conquered.

“I’m also proud of my boys who pushed so hard and remained disciplined throughout the games. We are ready to defend our title in the next games and we will make sure that the trophy remains in Tzaneen,” said Moses Makhubele, First Eleven Captain. All photos by Bertus de Bruyn.
