Pause for a moment and consider the value of the gift of your life

Tackle obstacles that remind you that you are not Bryan Habana. Pause – and say thank you!

How you have been carried through by every puff of air that you breathe, still available for you to take you through another day.

Notice your heart, it beats 24-hours a day and has carried on to pump blood throughout your body, effortlessly supplying oxygen and nutrients to other parts of your body for the past 20, 30 or even 65 or 70 years of your life with no effort from your side. I cannot think of a price tag, for it is priceless! Consider this: some of you -by living up to where you are, you have outlived some incredibly famous people.

Bob Marley died at age 36, Prokidat 37, Mandoza at 38, Hansie Cronje at 32, Princess Diana died at age 36, and the list is endless.

You could be faced with responsibilities in your life that still feel like homework, even if you have been out of school, challenges so thick you could cut with a knife and a company of hard-to- tackle obstacles that remind you that you are not Bryan Habana. Pause – and say thank you!

Say thank you for life, thank you for family, for little children and big ones too. Be thankful for your career and the opportunity to knock for one,for biltong and boerewors, for the justice system and entertainment.

Say thank you for clean a Limpopo, celestial Cape Town, Johnny Clegg, the internet, politics and freedom of speech, your morning cereal and clothing, a breath of fresh air, consumption of running water and availability of electricity – even if it is by chance!

Without a doubt, there is a multitude of things to be grateful for.

“Yesterday really ended last night, today is a brand new day – and it’s yours!” – Zig Ziglar.

All it will ever take from your day is a moment at a time to be grateful, for you have this moment – and this moment is your life!
