A poetry night to remember in Giyani

Giyani Poetry Club hosted their music and poetry night at Oasis Lodge in Giyani recently.

The hall was filled with a very curious but warm audience which enthusiastically waited to see what the event was really about.

The night was sparked a blaze as the MC for the night, Dr Dzunisani Praise introduced to the audience what the event was all about.

Everyone came through the door looking elegant in accordance with the event’s dress code theme of vintage or formal and the beautifully decorated hall with black, silver and gold ornaments set the mood of what was about to transpire and the quality of sound was out of this world.

Music and poetry night was not just a musical night with a touch of poetic flows, it was a soul feeding experience that went about bringing inspiration to the Giyani community and restoring the trueness of art and creativity and not forgetting our roots and where we came from.

Young peo ple came from all parts of the country to honour this event with their gifts of art ranging from beautiful melodies, spoken word, poetry and etc.

After the event Ivan Critic was quoted saying “at that night we were all one and had come together to fulfil one particular purpose if not a few “to restore, to inspire and rebuild”.

From the time the first performer was introduced until the last act on stage the atmosphere inside the hall was artistically charged with the poets and musicians delivering their best to an audience that kept on applauding, clapping and happily dancing as the show went on.

Everyone was jolly and the audience were massively stunned to discover the level of talent displayed by performers.

It was a moment like never before in Giyani.

Between sets they were breaks to allow the waiters to serve food and drinks to the audiences which felt very special as suitable attention was given to each of them.

The food, the quality of sound, the talent, the audience was totally amazing, an experience only to be told by those who attended.

Giyani Poetry Club (GPC) was founded in 2012 by a Giyani born Pretoria based (poet, farmer, rapper) Ishmael ‘GY GEE’ Baloyi.
