Tzaneen: Dr Visser’s farewell party on point

Letaba Hospital said its final goodbyes to one of its longest serving doctors, in a glamarous farewell party held at the Letaba River Lodge on Friday, August 3.

Dr Erna Visser finally closed her chapter with the hospital after 13 years of service.

All her colleagues starting from the interns, nurses, to the management had nothing but kind words to say about her.

She was described as an honest, strict, neat and hardworking woman, who always placed the needs of her patients above all.

“We are grateful to have worked with you, we will remember you for all the great job you did.

“If it was possible to stop your retirement or decrease your years we would do so,” explained Rhandzu Mongwe, District Executive Manager.

The mother of three and a grandmother of five has been in the medical field since 1979.

Her husband Tony Nienaber said that he witnessed the amount of hardwork and passion she put into her career daily.

“Medicine for her is not a job, but a calling she worked hard and never complained about her job or colleagues not even once.

She is semi-retired and will be working as a locum doctor and has now moved with her husband to Bredasdorp in the Western Cape.

“It is a very special night which I will always remember and I thank you for all the kind words, you are not my colleagues but my friends.

Thank you because you had a part in enlarging my knowledge, Visser concluded.

She was also given a special gift by Mercurius Tzaneen, thanking her support throughout the years.
