SEDA takes a Girl Child to work
More than 30 learners participated in the Take a Girl Child to Work, recently in Tzaneen.
The learners were hosted by the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA), Mopani District office in partnership with Cell C Take a Girl Child to Work.
The initiative normally takes place annually around May, organisations or individuals invite a girl child to their work place where they teach the learners about their proffession.
SEDA mopani has been taking part in this initiative for over five years now.
This year over 30 Grade 10 to Grade 12 learners from four schools in the Tzaneen area were part of the occassion.

This year’s theme was ‘Facing fear, embracing change’, guest speakers also had to speak according to the theme.
“I want to study medicine in Cuba, so that I can be the first doctor in my family and when internationl health practitioners wants solution they can contact me,” said one of the learners.
The learners were honoured by great speakers in their own field of work from health and fitness, banking, health safety, fashion design and farming.
Nthabiseng Maake (Mega), a Motivational Speaker, encouraged the learners to associate themselves with the right company and to follow their passion when choosing a career.
Health and Fitness Expert, Nyiko Masango (Mr Dynamics) taught the leaners about the importance of healthy living; Fortunate Ngobeni, a Fashion Designer, taught the learners about dressing for a purpose, Philisiwile Yolo from Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM), spoke about public safety and life orientation and Absa Bank also taught the future leaders about saving and managing their finances.
Maseje Nchabeleng encouraged the learners to become enterpreneurs, so that they can become job creators not job seekers.
After the the session they were awarded attendance certificates and were also given goodie bags sponsored by ABSA, GTEDA and GTM.
“The event was a great success and we would like to thank all the guest speakers for honouring the occasion and all the sponsors,” said Maria Raffery, from SEDA.
