Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce learn more about Bitcoin

Yet another successful Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce, monthly network luncheon was held at Hotel@Tzaneen on Friday May 4.

This monthly meeting is where the local business community meet to network and learn from each other and to find ways of growing the Tzaneen economy.

Stanford Lake College (SLC) were the main sponsor of the event. The Head Master of the SLC, Craig Carolan, acknowledged the support of the local community and said that the institution would not be as succesful without this support.

“In the past 20 years the school has achieved a 100% pass rate and we have many learners who have been accepted in International Universities such as Cambridge University and Oxford University,” explained Carolan.

Guest speaker and a former SLC student, Dominic Obojkovits, taught the audience about Bitcoin’s pros and cons.

Obojkovits defined Bitcoin as a new technological financial system which seeks to decentralise money and that it tries to reduce the circulation of paper money. “Don’t invest money you are not willing to lose,” explained Obojkovits, when asked about the risk factors of investing.

The event was well honoured by the local business community. The Tzaneen Chamber of Commerce, thanked the sponsors of the event; SLC, Letaba Rugby Club, Hotel@Tzaneen and Eco choice for their continual support.
