TZANEEN: Community benefits from donations

South Africa's power utility, Eskom, handed over outdoor toys, tent and chairs to the Molekwane Crèche and Ramotshinyadi HIV and AIDS Youth Guidance Centre in Ramotshinyadi, Bolobedu on Friday.

A total amount of R30 000 worth of goods has been donated to both centres.

The Molekwane Crèche was established in 1992 in order to provide children in the area with a place of early learning.

The donation will go towards improving the environment in the crèche facilities and the centre.

Furthermore, the Ramotshinyadi HIV and AIDS Youth Guidance Centre established in 2001 was established to deal with the health and social problems facing the youth in the area.

Before the establishment of the centre, many young adults in the area were faced with issues such as lack of care for the sick, poverty and the devastating scourge of TB and HIV and AIDS.

Moreover these young adults were finding themselves leading households at a young age, due to the premature passing of their elders.

The centre has also provided shelter mainly for women who have suffered domestic abuse.

“Eskom takes its social responsibility seriously and hopes that this donation will go towards the upliftment of the Bolobedu community,” said Elekanyani Makuya, Tzaneen Sector Manager.

He also encouraged the community to use electricity safely and report any form of illegal activities.
