Brutal murder witnesses urged to come forward

Police are appealing to anyone with information on the brutal killing of three people in Matiyani Village outside Giyani last week to come forward.

This follows a gruesome discovery of two bodies burnt beyond recognition in a motor vehicle and another body with multiple gun shot wounds some meters away from the scene last week Monday.

Police spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Moatshe Ngoepe, said preliminary investigations revealed that a man and woman in their thirties were kidnapped by unknown men while driving a Toyota Tazz near Makonde Village outside Thohoyandou.

“The attackers loaded them into the boot of the vehicle and drove to a secluded area near Matiyani Village along the Punda Maria road. They were fatally shot, set alight inside the vehicle and burnt beyond recognition,” said Ngoepe.

He said the body of an unknown man with multiple gun shot wounds was also discovered some meters away from the scene.

The motive behind this incident is still unknown but police investigations are continuing.

The Provincial Police Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba, has condemned the killings with the most strongest possible terms.

“Those perpetrators who still engaged on committing these barbaric acts are cautioned to stop this senseless killings of our people. There is no justifiable reason for anyone to take an innocent life in this horrific manner.
