SLC learners are certainly not horsin’ about

Sarena and Ruben jointly contributed 1155 points for Stanford to the league competition in this first qualifier round.

Two Stanfordians competed in the first SANESA qualifier at Blouberg Ryskool in Vivo recently.

Sarena Wolff (Gr 12) and Ruben le Roux (Gr 8) represented SLC in this equestrian event.

This is a qualifying contest for inclusion in the Limpopo team for October 2018.

It is also a schools league, so schools earn points for every entry and result.

Sarena and Ruben jointly contributed 1155 points for Stanford to the league competition in this first qualifier round.

These points were accrued from Sarena’s 1st place riding ‘Warrior’ in the 1m class, and a 2nd place on ‘Jervis’ in the 1.10m class.

Ruben is a multi-discipline rider (on Thoroughbred ‘Our Mattox’) and earned points for 1st place equitation 90cm class and working hunter 90cm class.

In show jumping he earned a 3rd and a 4th place and in a team event, handy hunter, he achieved a 1st place.

In addition, the prize giving for the 2017 season was held and both students did extremely well.

Sarena walked off with lapel pins, rosettes and certificates for her various events in 2017.

She was awarded Limpopo Provincial Schools Colours in 2017.

Ruben also received many accolades for his achievements including the best level 5 Working Rider in Limpopo.

It is worth noting that Ruben le Roux is in the Grade 8 bridging class which makes him a year younger than the current Grade 8s.

Congratulations to both riders and we look forward to seeing the results of the next events.
