Letaba Herald reporters live on the scene at a cash-in-transit heist just outside of Tzaneen.

According to Police, the car was enroute to the social grants paypoint at Lephepane village when the suspects shot at it several times and further blew it up with the explosives before they fled the scene with undisclosed amount of money and two firearms which they robbed from the security officials.

It is alleged that a group of armed suspects attacked the vehicle along the Khujwana and Lephaphane road at approximately 06:00 this morning.

According to Police, the car was enroute to the social grants paypoint at Lephepane village when the suspects shot at it several times and further blew it up with the explosives before they fled the scene with undisclosed amount of money and two firearms which they robbed from the security officials.

They reportedly left the scene taking the Tzaneen and Lydenburg road towards Hoedspruit with two vehicles, which are both white and black BMW’s.

There is heavy police presence on the scene and forensic teams are currently taking evidence.

There were no injuries or fatalities resulting from this incident.

The suspects in this matter are still unknown and no arrests have been made.

The road is currently cordoned off by Police.

There are further reports of another cash-in-transit heist in the Modjadji area in the early hours of this morning.
