Police Spokesperson, Captain Moseri, told the Herald that a misunderstanding occurred between the Manager and the employee a few days ago.

When the employee went to speak with her Manager about the issue, the Manager allegedly tried to close the door on the employee and the door was pushed against her.

A case of common assault was then opened by the employee against the Manager.

Moseri informed the Herald that the store Manager was at the Police Station at the time of the EFF protest, as she had been summoned to give a statement on the assault allegation.

Alida Fraser, Manager of the Tzaneen Lifestyle Centre, was contacted in regard to the matter but she advised that the Lifestyle Centre Management cannot release a statement as it is an internal matter within Checkers.

Moseri concluded that investigations are continuing and that the Manager of Checkers will appear before court.
