Most Grade R learners were excited attending their first class, but a couple of kids were not that jovial.

You could see sadness in the parents’ eyes when they had to leave their kids behind and some just remained behind to see if their kids were coping.
Thandi Shiburi, one of the teachers at the school tried her best to make the learners comfortable by making them sing a song or two.
But some of them were not having it, one learner even lied to Shiburi that he wanted to go to the toilet, only to find that he wanted to sit with his mother outside.
Overall the parents, teachers and most learners were all calm and ready for the year ahead.
