GIYANI: Chief creates jobs for community
A local chief's actions speak louder than words by creating jobs for his community through farming outside the Giyani area.
Chief Vhafuwi Livhuwani Matsila of Matsila Tribal Authority helps put food on the table for hundreds of families through game farming and vegetable farming.
Matsila’s farm consist of small scale farming of vegetables such as; cabbages, green peppers, beetroots, tomatoes and onions.
Meanwhile his game farming consists of 10 buffalos three of which were donated by SANPARKS, 10 elands and 25 Impalas.
His farming has created 50 permanent jobs; 200 on temporary and 500 permanent basis for the people of Matsila village and surrounding villages.

SANPARKS has also donated a science lab that will be used by local residents especially learners for their Physical Science experiments.
“This farming helps alleviate poverty within our area and boosts domestic economic tourism. Young people now don’t have to travel far just to see buffalos, elands and Impalas,” said Matsila.
“This game farming will also change the view that game farming only belongs to white people and that’s not true “, he added.
The chief also urged other traditional leaders to focus on farming in order to eradicate poverty and to create jobs.
His game farm has 500 hectares and is worth millions.
Matsila has a guest house were he accommodates learners from Vuwani area who are affected by total shutdown to do catch up revisions.
