Tzaneen Care Centre opens doors and arms
The centre, which has been open for two years, cares for terminally ill cancer patients who need somewhere to spend their last days.
Tzaneen Care Centre opened its doors to the public on Thursday, November 2 when they hosted their first heartwarming open day that gave everybody a look at what happens at the centre.
Tzaneen Care Group Chairperson, Yasmeen Moosa, emphasized the importance of the Centre to their NPO, Tzaneen Care Group.

“The centre plays a pivotal role in achieving the objectives of the non-profit company, the Tzaneen Care Group. It serves as a haven for terminally ill cancer patients who require round the clock care in their end of days,” Moosa said.
The Tzaneen Care Group ladies are all volunteers and oversee the care of each patient.
Additional staff are employed to care for patients around the clock.
The ladies welcomed each visitor with open hearts and arms.
Visitors were given a tour of the facility and were also given a chance to have a walk around their beautiful garden which now includes a stunning herb garden planted by Sue Reed, who is a cancer survivor herself.

“Once they have grown, we are hoping to implement these herbs into our patients’ diets,” said Sue.
They also have an oncologist, Dr Thumelo Moyaba, who rents rooms at the centre every Monday and uses the amazing facilities to treat his patients.
Their facilities include an annex with eight seats specifically for chemotherapy and three bedrooms equipped with hospital beds looking out into the beautiful garden.
