Boston holds first annual Teachers’ Forum

Bostons City Campus and Business College’s Tzaneen branch held their first annual Teachers’ Forum at Hotel@Tzaneen last week Friday, September 22.

The forum was aimed at raising awareness of what Boston Tzaneen has on offer and to break the stereotype that colleges limit your possibilities in terms of what qualifications you can obtain from a college.

Representatives from Boston felt that there is no need for learners coming out of high school to go far away from home to find a good university to study at when they can get the same qualifications right here in Tzaneen.

Over the past year, Boston has sent busses out to rural schools in the area to bring learners to the campus so that they can take a career guidance test (which they offer for free to Tzaneen high school learners) to help identify the best career for them.

The forum was attended by 30 school principals and Life Orientation teachers from their respective schools, representatives of the Small Enterprise Development Agency (SEDA) – a stakeholder in Boston Tzaneen – and one or two former Boston Tzaneen graduates.

Overall, the forum was very informative for the teachers and ended on a light note when everyone was given the chance to participate in a raffle where wonderful prizes were won.

Seeing as the Teachers’ Forum is an annual event among other Boston branches, Boston Tzaneen aims to make it an event to last the ages.
