HOEDSPRUIT:Anti-Zuma protests brings community together

The Hoedspruit community geared up and took to the streets to voice their discontent about government and to call for President Jacob Zuma to step down on Friday April 7.

A well organized and peaceful display could be seen at the Kamogelo Tourism Centre as the community stood together as one.

Meanwhile The Oaks saw a protest which resulted in the shutdown of main roads.

The anger of The Oaks residents was evident as each and every car was stopped by individuals and the drivers questioned on where they are travelling to and why they had to be let through.

Protesters barricaded the roads displaying how they feel about Zuma.

The protest came after the cabinet reshuffle and despite the government’s plea with organisers and leaders of the protests to refrain from inflicting violence, The Oaks community showed a completely different display.

While Hoedspruit Herald watched the protests from a distance, several cars were seen fleeing the scene.

“There were no cases as well as injuries reported as the community displayed their dissatisfaction of the cabinet reshuffle and we’re simply standing together with the rest of South Africa”, Hoedspruit Police spokesperson Sergeant Livhuhani Mulaudzi.

Despite the effort of the people of South Africa to stand together and march against Jacob Zuma, the marches seem to have the hope for effect.
