KNP: Elephant Hall totally overhauled, priority visit to everybody

The world famous Elephant Hall at Letaba camp in the Kruger National Park was re-opened on Monday and will undoubtedly be the new benchmark in interpretive tourism, not only to all our national parks, but to all tourism in the country.

With the financial assistance and massive input of man hours from the University of the Sunshine Coast (USC) in Australia, three branches of the Honorary Rangers, KNP staff and other benefactors, the hall was totally overhauled and should be a priority visit to everybody visiting the Park.

It is also an interactive learning centre and an absolute children’s delight.

During the re-opening function on Monday, the CEO of SANParks, Fundisile Mketeni, and the Dean of the USC, Prof Greg Hill, also signed a new memorandum of understanding which will solidify the already strong working relationship between the two organizations.

The Managing Executive of the KNP, Glenn Phillips, and the General Manager Visitor Management and Interpretation, Kevin Moore, also witnessed the MOU.

After the signing guests were guided through the revamped Elephant Hall by Kirsty Redman, Interpretive Officer of the KNP’s Nxanatseni Region, and the two staff members at the centre, Riana Harmse and Phephile Maboya.
