TZANEEN: Ex-Dineo brings some welcome rain

More rain is expected today over Tzaneen throughout the day and evening, according to WeatherSA.

Cyclone Dineo has been downgraded to tropical depression ex-Dineo having lost momentum overnight, albeit heavy rain is still predicted.

The wind speed in Magoebaskloof peaked at 29km/h  this morning and 71mm of rain was measured.

Henry Muller posted tongue-in-cheek, that despite the welcomed 90mm of rain that fell, 10mm was also measured in their house.

WeatherSA forecasted that Tzaneen will be rainy today with a minimum of 17 degrees and a maximum of 23 degrees.

‘Medium rain is expected during the day and the evening,’ according to WeatherSA.

Weather&Radar predict that there is a 50% – 90% chance of rain from 10:00 this morning through-out  the night.

The SA Weather Service says despite the downgrade, residents in parts of Limpopo and Mpumalanga can still expect flooding and heavy rains.

The cyclone was downgraded to tropical depression ex-Dineo having lost momentum overnight.

‘Ex-Dineo has remained mostly over the Mozambique’s Banhine National Park and that the South African provinces at risk are Limpopo and Mpumalanga,’ Chief forecaster Kevin Rae said.

WeatherSA issued a warning stated that: ‘Heavy rain can lead to possible localized flooding over the Vhembe and Mopani Districts today.’
