Danver Mars star keeps on shining

A Bolobedu born and bred musician keeps on breaking the boundaries with his music

Tshepo Maake, stage name DanVer Mars is a multi-talented hiphop artist from Bolobedu, Ga-Modjadji.

Born in April 1994, he started his musical journey in 2006, after his father passed on and the only way he could express his pain was through turning his thoughts into rap.

He then moved to secondary level in Modubatse High School where he was part of very famous Rap crews and movements such as RWP and Thermal Elements.

In his high school days by the age of 17, Mars co-founded his own independent label called HD Music Productions alongside Smith who is his mentor and rap idol in 2011.

They were able to take over the streets of Bolobedu when Danver was known to be ‘Danver the best cook of Beef’ and was in high school crowned the king of battle and Cyphers in the year 2012. The rapper is studying BA in Social Work at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Throughout the years he shared the same stage with Proverb under the Telkom & Idols 2014 featuring Reason in the Wits Library lawns.

He has shared the same stage with Gigi LaMayne on the W Factor competition that took place at Wits Theatre and came out in position 4 as the only rapper in the Top 10, and Ricky Rick, Major League DJs, Lerato Kganyago, and many others on the 2016 SMU Medunsa Freshers.

He was able to perform as a guest at the late Mandoza’s last birthday celebration of his 38th year alongside the likes of the legends such as Bricks, Oskido, Mshoza, Bravo and many others.

He has been able to appear on TV programmes such as V-Entertainment on VuzuTV, Morning Live on SABC 2, Street Vibes on 1KZN TV and LoveWorldSAT’s TV show called AMP.

Maake made it to MTVbase 2016’s couch predictions in collaborations with the South African Hiphop Awards and 2016 Hottest rappers list.

He has made appearances on radio stations such as Thobela FM, Capricorn FM, RadioTurf, GTfm, SMU radio, Alex fm on the mixtape show and other SABC radio stations.

He was able to debute his latest single #DownForWhatever on SMU radio and 1KZN tv and has had his own sold out shows on remarkable venues such as Ko’ Spotong Braamfontein, RiccardoS Braamfontein, Bannister hotel Braamfontein, Zebra Pond, Bassline, Wits Theatre and many others.

His other talents include playing percussion drums and public speaking. His only mixtape called 2-015 Genesis Vol. 1 was able to sell four thousand copies in a month’s time with street sales via hardcopy on the streets in December 2015 and nine thousand Copies in six months after release.

Mars recently entered #GigiGoesGold competition sponsored by Mabala Noise and came out in the Top 10 out of over 700 entries at Position 5.

“My 2017 plans include Music Videos for my latest single ‘Down For Whatever’ and more collaborations that include celebrity features such as Sean Pages, Shane Eagle & Gigi LaMayne,” said Maake.

He added that his biggest goal is to release an extended projected (E.P) before the actual second Mixtape.
