NEWS FROM NY: ‘Warrior-Angel’ needs a Christmas miracle

In a moving television interview, Ilona Geldenhuys told Fox5NY:
‘ We don’t have time, time is against us we have to safe Imke’s life…I got the courage to ask the doctor how many survivors they’ve had in that hospital, and he said we haven’t had any…’
After Imke’s treatment started in New York at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Centre, they received the devastating news that the aggressive childhood cancer, neuroblastoma, had returned.
All the money that was raised, over $500 000 for special amino chemo therapy already went into the surgery.
An additional $585 000 is now needed for radiation, immunotherapy and the vaccine.
The Arms Wide Open foundation is now there to stand by the family, to help a miracle come true this Christmas for Imke’s treatment to continue.
Fox news reported that through social media, Ilona connected with Dena Sherwood of Manalapan, New Jersey.
‘Dena founded an organization called Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation after her son Billy was diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2008. Ilona hopes a miracle will happen in time for Christmas. Imke just finished chemotherapy and will have three weeks to recover. But her future is on hold. Sloan Kettering cannot begin the radiation or the immunotherapy without the next payment of $585,000. If you would like to help Imke and her family, Dena’s foundation has set up a fundraising page. 100 percent of the proceeds will go to Imke’s family.’

” Help is on the way, we received this messages on Monday after we attended a church sermon on Sunday. We got the message right after we heard that we are going to need more money for Imke’s surgery. We asked that everyone please keep us in their prayers,’ Imke’s dad Darius told the Herald this morning, from New York.
