Makhushane community raise issues that affect them

Executive Committee (EXCO) outreach Programme visited Mukhushane in Phalaborwa.

EXCO Programme takes place every month in various communities and aims to assist communities by giving them a platform to raise their concerns to the Members of the Executive Committee.

Ba-Phalaborwa Municipality had a privilege to voice out matters that affect schools in their areas, and some of the issues raised includes lack of scholar transport and infrastructure.

“Parents take their children to schools which are far from their homes, these are some of the reasons for transport challenges.” said MEC for Health in Limpopo, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, representing the MEC for Education.

She further stated to parents that the transport will not be provided to such people as far as departmental policy is concerned.

The budget available will be used to build schools but the department will start with buildings that were left unfinished and thereafter will continue with building new classes and renovations where required.

“The Department of Education is aware of the problem of infrastructure in Makhushane and that this will be addressed as per the infrastructure plan”, said the MEC

Over 134 projects are underway and in different stages across the province.
