Giyani police launch manhunt for killers

Giyani police are looking for unknown who were involved in the murder of a man who was found burnt on Thursday, July 14 in Mphagani village.

They have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects who murdered a 48-year-old man. It appears as though the car was torched after he was killed. Police were apparently on a routine patrol when they received a complaint about a motor vehicle that was on fire.

Upon arrival, police found the victim dead near a VW Polo with a Mpumalanga registration number. They also found a wallet and cell phone belonging to the victim. Further inspection of the victim’s body revealed that the hands and legs of the deceased were tied before he was murdered.

Emergency services personnel and the fire brigade were summoned. The man was declared dead at the scene, and a case of murder was opened, resulting in the launch of a manhunt for the suspects. The motive for the murder is not known.

Police are withholding the victim’s name until his next of kin has been notified. Police are appealing to anyone with information that can lead to the apprehension of the suspects to contact WO HP Chauke at 073 271 4857 or the crime stop number 08600 10111.
