Department equip youth with information

As part of youth month celebrations, the Department of South African Defence and Military Veterans hosted a national youth outreach programme at Nkowankowa Community Hall last Thursday.

The delegation was led by deputy minister, Kebby Maophatsoe.

The aim of the programme was to make the youth of Nkowankowa and surrounding areas aware of opportunities available in the department.

During his speech the deputy minister outlined the importance of education.

He also condemned violent protests that lead to vandalism of state properties and also condemned Xenophobia. Maophatsoe advised the youth practice patriotism.

Different ranks in the South African Defence Force (SANDF) were there to explain in details the requirements needed to be in the SANDF.

Those that had unanswered questions were given a chance to ask the deputy minister.

Both the executive mayor of Mopani District Municipality (MDM) and Greater Tzaneen Municipality (GTM) sent representatives. Reaineth Selomo was the acting mayor for GTM and Dodo Mushwana for the MDM.
