Hitchhiker robbed on the R81 Sasol garage Tzaneen

A 41-year-old Bangladeshi national was robbed of cash, clothing, cellphones, and groceries on Tuesday, October 4 in the R81 Sasol garage in Tzaneen.

It is alleged that he was hitchhiking on Tzaneen  R81 road near Sasol garage to Phalaborwa when a blue sedan with three men offered him a ride. The model and make of the car are unknown to the victim. Along the way, while still, in Tzaneen, one of the occupants of the car took out a knife and ordered the Bangladeshi national to bend down then he put his leg on his neck. It is further alleged that the victim was told not to move or try anything stupid or else he will be shot.

While the car was still in motion the assailants searches the victim and took R300 in cash, they also took two cellphones and demanded bank pin codes then they transferred R30  000 and R5000-00 into their account.

The victim was dropped off somewhere in the Nkowankowa policing area. They further withdrew R6800-00 and R2500-00. They also drove away with the victim’s bag of clothes plus a stock he bought for his shop worth R4000-00. A case was opened at Tzaneen saps and an investigation is underway.
