Nyiko cycles 300km for his birthday

Normally, people prefer being spoiled and pampered on their birthday, but not Nyiko 'Mr Dynamix' Masango.

He thought it would be fun and fulfilling to cycle over 400km from Johannesburg to Tzaneen on his 45th birthday recently. Every year on his birthday he has been doing different activities, which started a few years ago when he did sky-diving and in the following years he cycled from province to province or hiked at different mountains. For the past 20 years, the Nkowankowa-born and bred adventure enthusiast has been on a journey to explore human potential.

“I have been studying the human potential, what a man is capable of doing and where the mind can reach. I have discovered that most people have not even tapped into their potential. All the activities that I have done, I’m doing as a testimony, that we are all capable of doing more than what we have settled for. My calling in life is to help people reach their full potential and live their lives to the fullest,” he explained.

However this year he only managed to cycle 300km to Mokopane, as he had an eye infection from crosswinds and his knees also gave up along the way due to the way his bicycle was adjusted. “I was using a race professional bicycle, which is great for competitions and not so well for long distances. So I could only push up until Mokopane and I was only left with 100km. For me it is still an achievement, as long as I can push myself to do more than what I have done before, “Nyiko also added. He will be celebrating his birthday with a group of adventurers at Koro Koro Lodge in Bela Bela, in October, where they will be camping and doing different activities.
