Coach House serial rapist reign ends in terror

28-year-old Matome Oakney Seale, who has been terrorising women around Coach House was sentenced to 59 years behind bars by the Tzaneen Magistrate's Court on Monday, June 20. Due to the cumulative effect of the sentences, concurrent running was ordered and thus he is to serve an effective term of 20 years

In August 2021 the then lured his seven unsuspecting female victims on different dates with the promise of employment on Facebook. He would then meet them at Nkowankowa R36 four-way and lead them towards the Coach House side where he would tell them that they were going to work and along the way, he would threaten them with a  butcher knife and rob them of their handbags, cash, and cellphones. Two of his victims were not so lucky because he robbed and also raped them.

An intense investigation followed and Sgt Glenda Mathebula of Tzaneen FCS was assigned to investigate the cases. The suspect was finally arrested in September  2021 at his home in Lephepane village, possessing the victims’ stolen handbags, cellphones, IDs, and matric certificates.

He received 15 years for robbery with aggravating circumstances on count 1, on count 2 he got 10 years for rape, three 3 years for theft, four years for robbery, and 12 years for another rape. Counts two four and five will run concurrently with sentences on count one.
