Man robbed of R85 000 in Tzaneen CBD

Police in Tzaneen are investigating an armed robbery after a businessman was robbed of R85 000 cash.

According to Sgt Maurice Nkhwashu, the incident took place in the CBD next to FNB main branch on Monday, January 10.

“A 38-year-old Somalian employee at Phakati Milling alleges that he was approached by two African males carrying guns as he was heading to the bank to make a cash deposit.

“One of the men cocked a gun and then pointed it straight at him.

“They grabbed his backpack, which had R85 000 inside in cash.

“They then got into a white BMW leaving him helpless,” Nkhwashu said.

The suspects are unknown and are still at large
