Armand Grobler launches his first book

Armand Grobler launched his book, titled Photo Safari Kruger at the Warren Cary Wildlife Gallery on Saturday, December 4.

Photo Safari Kruger is Grobler’s first book which took him two and a half years to complete. He told the Herald that the book is an artistic representation and collection of images from Rhulani Safaris’ photographic safaris in the Greater Kruger Sabi Sands Game Reserve.

“The book consists of images, text about the Greater Kruger, stories of my adventures and quotes that keep the readers entertained. Mostly it is a coffee table book consisting of images,” he said.

Grobler said he started writing and photography in 2013 and he looks up to Hannes Lochner, his icon who also resides in Hoedspruit. “I started the book in 2019 when I officially turned photography from being a hobby into a profession. The book captivates readers as I attempt to capture the action as well as the interaction between species in a striking way as possible,” he said.

He said when safaris were cancelled at Sabi Sands Game Reserve due to Covid-19, he started collaborating with Elephant Plains Game Lodge in the Sabi Sands. We are all hoping that the industry picks up soon. I want to start my second book which includes Botswana’s Kalahari and Okavango Delta,” he said.

He thanked those who took their time to attend the launch. “I would like to thank everyone who could make it for their time and effort in getting there, it was an incredibly special event, and even slightly emotional!
