With everything that is going on in our country and abroad, how do we, citizens of the world, clear our minds, de-stress and recoup for the festive season lying ahead?

Every day you turn on your social media feed, your daily news source or just your car’s radio system to read and hear about the things happening in the world. Bad things.

Its a little over four weeks until Christmas and it feels as if my head is about to explode. I have had enough of this doom and gloom and want out. I want to start focusing on what is important; reconciling with my family and giving praise to the Lord above because in the Christian calendar, it is the most important time of the year. And that should be the order of the day.

But I am finding it so difficult to switch off. From headlines about the situation in Zimbabwe to mass shootings in the States … these are all clouding my vision of a care-free Christmas.

There is so much hate and fighting going on in the world, when is it all going to stop? Or worse, where is it all going to end?

To my fellow Krugersdorpers, I just have one request … let’s make these last couple of weeks of 2017 worth while. Let’s show the country that we know what is important and that we chose to honour the good, the brave and the fearless.

Surely the words to the popular song – It’s the most wonderful time of the year – should have some meaning or significance in this time of turmoil?

Do you agree with me? I would love to know what you think, please send your thoughts to me by emailing krugersdorpnews@caxton.co.za.

Until next week, stay positive Krugersdorp.
