I am starting to get worried …

I cannot believe that there are Christmas decorations up in shopping malls already. It’s like I blinked and it was October! Time certainly flew this year and I am in deep denial about it. This year has certainly been an interesting one. A lot has happened, not just in my life, but in Krugersdorp as well. Apart from all the doom and gloom, we had some great ups as well.

But the troubles we are facing now, like the threatening water shortage, are taking centre stage.

I think we can expect the December holidays to be a rather sombre and dry holiday season.

I don’t want to be a soundboard for the government because I know it is all we are hearing these days, but the water crisis has me seriously worried. It’s a first for me. As a woman in my early 30s, I have never had to deal with water shortages like I have to today.

I always do my bit to save water. Deep down I know that it is a precious commodity the human race cannot afford to lose, but now things are drastically changing and I find myself questioning my own water-saving techniques.

Am I doing enough? Are you doing enough? Is society doing enough?

These are the questions that reiterate in my head. My conscience is telling me that I need to do more, that I need to create a better awareness of the problem.

I am going to open up this conversation to our readers – do you share my feelings on this matter?

Until next week, be water wise, and save!
