Its week 2 of my diet and I am glad to say that I survived, however, just barely …

It was tough!

I don’t really know what was the toughest, the fact that I was constantly hungry or the fact that my mind told me that I was constantly hungry.

The diet actually allows for a lot of food like steak, vegetables, fruit and even diary to be eaten, yet I still find myself wanting to snack on other (bad) things.

But I did receive some good news when I stepped on the scale this morning, nothing earth shattering, but just enough encouragement to get me through this week.

What I am starting to learn from this diet is that we as South Africans are very fortunate.

When we are hungry we can walk to our refrigerators or pantries and just eat whatever we like.

Even if there are only just a few things in it. To have that option makes us fortunate.

I am slowly learning to enjoy the ‘little’ food I get to eat and as I take a bite of my fresh salad I am also starting to appreciate what we get out of this Earth.

Perhaps it is time you do the same?

Until next week.
