So the Springboks’ Rugby World Cup campaign came to an end this past weekend.

Do I bow my head in shame? Of course not because the Boks played their hearts out.

Towards the end of the game it became clear that the Silver Ferns will not be defeated and that we should quit while we are ahead.

It’s not easy being a loser, especially when everyone’s hopes and dreams were placed on your shoulders.

Perhaps we should look at the bigger picture. Out of all the top rugby playing teams in the world…we will still come out, hopefully, in third place.

Third place in the whole world? That is not bad.

Winning a rugby world cup is one thing, but uniting a nation and showing true leadership by accepting your defeat far outweighs a trophy.

To me the real winners are the men picking themselves up after giving their all in a nail-biting game.

We as a country will definitely move forward from this.

Winning is not everything and if winning is all you are after, then maybe it is time you start changing the way you see the prize.

Just a thought…
