Last week I had the privilege of attending the pre-screening of the critically acclaimed Afrikaans movie Dis Ek, Anna.

The movie will be released in cinemas across the country this Friday.

Initially I had an idea what the movie was about.

After watching the movie I was shaken, not just because it was based on a true story, but because it was so good.

Our country has come a long way when it comes to the movie business and we can certainly pat ourselves on the back with exceptionally great productions hitting our screens these days!

I would like to urge everyone to go and see this movie. It plays a pivotal role in our society.

The message is has is also quite clear and even if you do not understand the language used, there are subtitles to make it easier.

This movie has already had its fair share of challenges, even before it opened to the public, but it is certainly well worth the watch.

And, if you’ve read the book (something I am doing now after seeing the movie), you will appreciated the visual aspect of the story so much more.

They say life imitates art, but it this case; the art clearly imitates the life of these characters.
