So the Metro Merger is not going to happen … well not right now at least.
I really don’t know what to make of this merger.
On numerous occasions the pros and cons of the merger have been communicated to me and as a journalist, my views should be kept objective.
Yet, I really don’t know why it was decided that four struggling municipalities should be merged together?
That was the question nobody could really answer for me.
Of course the obvious answers were given as to why a merger would work. Answers like ‘it would financially help the municipalities’ and ‘in the long run service delivery would improve’.
But just think about it, who decided “hey, I know, lets merge these four municipalities and see what happens …”.
And of course, why?
Sometimes I think people just decide to do stuff to see how other people would react.
It’s a whole lot of fussing for nothing if you ask me…
But like I said, I’m staying objective …
