Last week one of my journalists was involved in a scuffle with a municipal official.

Luckily he did not get hurt, but the scuffle, according to my opinion, was uncalled for.

To briefly sum up what happened, my journalist met up with an informant at the local dumping site to investigate allegations brought to his attention.

Standing outside the premises, my journalist took some photos. He then decided to approach the security guards on duty for further information. He introduced himself as the local media when the situation turned almost violent.

Through all the commotion the police was called.

Myself and my other journalist were also called and immediately went to help him in the matter.

When we arrived, our friends in the police and the local Community Policing Forum (CPF) were already there to assist. After some negotiations the situation was resolved.

I just want to thank the police and CPF for assisting us that day.

It gives me a nice warm feeling to know that if ever we are in need, we can always rely on our friends in the community. Thank you for keeping us safe!
