Wayne the two-wheel maestro

Motorbike fundi Wayne Carl from Monument is on top of his game and making waves in the motorsport industry.

Wayne Carl recently entered the Wesselsbron Top End Run tournament and cemented himself as one of Krugersdorp’s skilled motorcyclists and experts.

The Wesselsbron Top End Run is a regional tournament where many motorbike enthusiasts gather to show off their skills.

The Monument resident built and assembled his very first motorcycle as a teenager before becoming a motorcycle mechanic apprentice at the age of 18. He then officially qualified as a mechanic in 2001 and worked for a few well-known motorcycle shops on the West Rand as a workshop manager until he started his own business in 2007.

“I’ve always had a passion for motorbikes. Over the years, I have competed in various events including national events, quad races to Durban, pit bike races as well as drag races at Tarlton International Raceway. I have also entered bike shows not to mention vintage rebuilds,” he said.

Lately, Wayne said his main focus is more on the performance of motorcycles.

“My 2022 Kawasaki ZX10R recently won the speed test in the fastest Kawasaki category in Wesselsbron with a top speed of 308km per hour. I alternated speed runs with two very close friends, Nico Botha and Pieter du Plessis.”
