Brad fights back in Indonesia

Brad Binder dusted himself off from the disappointment in Italy and raced to eighth place in Indonesia having started 19th on the grid.

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and Krugersdorp’s Brad Binder showed the fighting spirit within him as he clawed his way back from 19th on the grid to eventually finish eighth place at the Indonesian Grand Prix.

This was an improved result for Brad who was disappointed with a last-place finish in Italy the week before.

According to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, a top-eight result in Indonesia was impressive in what was 27 demanding laps in immense heat conditions on race day.

“The sapping heat remained on full tap for race day at the 2024 Grand Prix of Indonesia and the third MotoGP run around the flat and twisty Mandalika International Circuit layout. A total of 60 000 spectators packed the parasols for a tantalising programme of racing. The 27 laps of MotoGP was the star draw and, after the adversity of Saturday, Brad aimed to cut his way through the field from the sixth row of the grid,” the team added.

Brad said he gave all he had.

“This was a tricky one for us today. We made some changes this morning and tried something quite different but it was clear in the race that I didn’t quite have the margin to push. I was running wide a lot. I had to try to be clever with the front tyre pressure and tucked behind a rider. It’s been a long weekend and I’m looking forward to seeing how we’ll manage in Japan next,” Brad said.

Brad is currently in sixth place on the MotoGP championship standings with 173 points out of 27 competitors.

He will race again at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan on Sunday, October 6.
