Brad crashes to 19th in Italy

Red Bull KTM Factory Racing's Brad Binder from Krugersdorp had to be happy with a last-place finish in Italy as he crashed at turn four.

Round 14 of the MotoGP held at the Gran Premio Pramac dell’Emilia-Romagna in Italy is one Brad Binder would quickly want to forget as he placed 19th.

“He had another second-row start after coming through qualification one, sealing fourth in qualification two and then a top-six finish during the sprint. On race day [September 22] however, Brad battled hard in the early stages but a crash at turn four ended his possibilities when he lost traction and slipped away. He managed to remount and complete the race in 19th,” the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing announced in their official newsletter.

“I felt pretty good in the warm-up but I knew if I wanted to do anything here I had to go with the boys early on. That’s what I tried to do and hang with their speed but unfortunately, I washed the front at turn four. Sorry to my team for the mistake because we could have had a decent result. My goal is to fight in the top three and that’s what I wanted to do. We’ll try again next week,” Brad said.

Despite the disappointment in Italy, Brad remains fifth in the championship standings and will race again at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia this weekend, September 27 to 29.
