Krugersdorp Bowling Club crowned Sables Men’s Fours champs

Krugersdorp Bowling Club recently won the Sables Men's Fours tournament against Maraisburg Bowling Club from Roodepoort.

A trophy will be coming home to Krugersdorp as the Sables Men’s Fours tournament came to a thrilling conclusion at the Honeydew Bowling Club recently.

According to Krugersdorp Bowling Club (KBC) spokesperson David Parker, KBC bowlers Wilson Malobolo, Andy Selby, Johan Serfontein and Charl van Staden came out on top in the final against Steve Maritz, Mark Richardson, Paul Thompson and Frank Hamilton of Maraisburg Bowling Club.

“This game produced some good old-fashioned pressure bowls from both sides. Teams exchanged the lead at almost every end. Wilson, however, was a big difference and played some exceptional bowls to keep KBC in the game,” David said.

He continued to say that when it came to the last end, KBC was leading by just two shots but even so, the pressure was thus on Steve and his team to score three shots to win the game. It was not to be.

“The KBC front line players delivered some good shots to pull the game through in the end.”

Describing the final moments, David said, “Steve bowled last where the jack moved but it rolled just too far and KBC picked up four shots to win 24–18.”

David concluded that both the finals for men’s and ladies’ teams produced really good bowls to the extent that the crowd gave them all a round of applause.
