Totalsports Women’s Race: Runners urged to flood the streets in pink

All mothers, daughters, aunts, and sisters are encouraged to join you in dressing in pink and participating in the Totalsports Women’s Race, an event that celebrates women.

Promising to be the biggest Women’s Month celebration yet, the Totalsports Women’s Race proudly continues to empower women while supporting PinkDrive in 2024.

The event is set to flood the streets of three major cities in an ocean of pink on August 4 in Durban, August 9 in Cape Town and August 17 in Johannesburg.

“PinkDrive’s involvement as the charity of the Totalsports Women’s Race is incredibly significant,” said Nikki Crous, head of marketing at Totalsports.

“Their commitment to breast cancer awareness and early detection resonates deeply with our values, and we are proud to support their lifesaving work at the Totalsports Women’s Race. PinkDrive will have a prominent presence at each of the three events. Together, we can truly impact the lives of women across South Africa.”

An NPC, PinkDrive is committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education as well as providing free screening services to the medically uninsured across South Africa.

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is a special Pink event that helps us raise funds to sustain our free services for the medically uninsured,” added Janice Benecke, marketing and events coordinator at PinkDrive.

“We are honoured to be part of this iconic event. Runners show tremendous support, and even men enjoy dressing in pink to join the celebration and show their support. Hosting the event on three separate days across three cities is a unique approach. To all runners, secure your entries before it’s too late. Encourage your mothers, daughters, aunts, and sisters to join you in dressing in pink and participating in the Totalsports Women’s Race, an event that celebrates women.”

“The Totalsports Women’s Race is special because it celebrates women,” said Nelius du Preez, operations manager at PinkDrive/ Johannesburg.

“There aren’t enough opportunities to celebrate the women of South Africa. Being able to celebrate women throughout August, while also raising awareness for breast cancer is a fantastic opportunity. In Johannesburg, we witness entire families coming out to support women. The sportsmanship and family outing for the day make it more beautiful than just receiving a medal at the end of the race. We are proud to be part of this fantastic event again in 2024.”
