Craven Week Day 4: Lions edge WP XV

The fourth day of the U18 Stadio Craven Week saw the Golden Lions, Free State, Pumas and Griquas securing wins.

As the U18 Stadio Craven Week nears the finals stages, Day 4 on June 27 had spectators on the edge of their seats.

The results were as follows:

• Griquas vs Limpopo Blue Bulls (53–37)
• Pumas vs Griffons (57–26)
• Golden Lions vs WP XV (37–33)
• Free State vs Blue Bulls (34–27)

The week’s most action-packed rugby days saw an entire pavilion packed to the rafters.

Among those in attendance was former principal of Laerskool Millennium Primary, Eugene Grobler, who said the day delivered rugby of the highest standard.

Another spectator, Sam Posthumus, said the Lions vs WP XV game was a highlight with players making their opportunities count.

Former chairperson for the SA Schools Rugby Association, Thys Bezuidenhout, added the Pumas vs Griffons match was an intriguing and high-scoring affair. At the same time, NWU rugby coach, Chaka Willemse, commented that there is plenty of talent coming through.

“I believe with young talent like this, South Africa’s rugby future is secure and we can remain the number one country in the world,” Chaka concluded.

WP will lock horns against the Free State for top honours on Saturday’s main match.
