Monnas netball stars go national

Thiana Ackermann and Jade-Lynn Booysen will represent the town, school and district at the U19 Telkom National Championships.

Krugersdorp continues to make waves and grow future sports stars.

Two Grade 11 learners from Hoërskool Monument High, Thiana Ackermann and Jade-Lynn Booysen, have been selected to play at the U19 Telkom National Championships. They will not only represent their school but also the town and district.

In addition, both currently represent the West Rand Warriors team who impressed at the Gauteng Netball trials held last month.

The U19 Telkom National Championships are aimed at allowing young netball players to showcase and develop their skills and talents. The tournament will also allow team managers, coaches, umpires, and administrators to get involved and develop their skills in improving players and networking with scouts and coaches. The tournament is organised by Netball South Africa and SA Schools Netball with mobile network operator, Telkom.

West Rand Warriors coach Madelein Booysen could not be more proud of the two players.

“We know they will outshine and outwit their opponents and fly the Krugersdorp flag high. They have worked so hard for this considering both stood head and shoulders above the 65 other girls competing for a spot in the West Rand netball squad.

“We are extremely proud of them and we wish them all the best of luck with their netball journey this year,” Madelein concluded.
